I played through the Ascadia Dungeon and checked out the bosses. The bosses 2, 3 and 5 have their special aura, with Fuzzy Remover and Barrier Breaker i can break this aura.
Maybe you have a broken file? A reinstallation from the game should fix your problem. -

It's fixed, you can wear the Samurai Slayer in costume slot now. You need only update the game.
